With the change of weather now in full force as we approach the winter months, it’s more important than ever to keep on top of your pool maintenance. Not only will you protect your pool from long-term damage, but when summer comes round again your pool will be ready to go.
Here are some top tips for looking after your outdoor pool in the winter.
Invest In A High-Quality Pool Cover
With more dirt and debris sound, you need a securely fitting pool over to keep your pool clean and protect it from harsh conditions. Although a few leaves insects may not seem like much of a big deal, over time this can cause blockages in the pipes which means extra work for you. Keep the pool cover clean too by removing algae, leaves and twigs as they settle on top.
Check The Water Balance
A lot of people choose not to drain their pool during the winter and you don’t have to, but you will need to keep the chemistry of the water balanced. Test the water regularly to ensure that the Ph is somewhere between 7.0 and 7.4.
Keep An Eye on Your Pool Parts
Freezing weather can cause unwanted damage to your pool and pipes and other areas are put under pressure. To avoid this, conduct regular checks of your pump, filter and heater to ensure that everything is working properly and there is no visible damage. This can help you avoid expensive repairs from frozen equipment or plumbing.
Keep The Filter Running
Even when you’re not using your pool, keeping your filter on for a few hours will keep your pool well maintained. Not only will this prevent dirt and debris from settling but this will help with water balance too.
